General Discussion / Dead Alpha? Flashing eyes...
« on: November 09, 2016, 08:36:21 PM »
I've had my Alpha for only a couple of days before I broke it. I clicked on something on the Android application and alpha just sat down and that was that. He just flashes his eyes now and nothing else..

Please watch what your clicking.. lol UBTECH are aware of the problem and I'm now in communication trying to get it resolved. As soon as I have more info then I'll post it here to help others.

I have been playing and I can log into him still through ADB and it has fully booted into android so I just think the main services have stopped, but I've no idea how to start them and without a working Alpha 2 I can't compare.

Will update...

General Discussion / Alpha really does run Android! See for yourself!

This is something very cool.. You can download a extension for google chrome or as a standalone app that lets you see the launcher on your Alpha 2!

WARNING - BE-CAREFUL, THIS CAN BREAK YOUR ALPHA2
DONT TURN OFF USB DEBUGGING FOR EXAMPLE!!

So.. this is what you can see

and another..

So.. to do this you must have your ADB drivers installed ( http://koush.com/post/universal-adb-driver ). Mine installed on there own when I plugged Alpha in.. I think I was lucky.. Anyway

Now go and grab Vysor.. you can either install it as an extension in Chrome from http://www.vysor.io/  OR download a standalone app from https://plus.google.com/110558071969009568835/posts/Ub7QKu2Pddu

Just watch what your doing .. :-)

General Discussion / See what your Alphas doing (Logcat)
« on: November 09, 2016, 08:15:05 PM »
Using ADB you can do many things but one of the simplest is logging what's going on. This is quite easy to do.. and the instructions are below;

Windows instructions
1. Install Alpha 2 PC programming software from UBTECH

Note - When I i unzipped this from UBTECH it created a folder called 'Ū•160607Ū┐Alpha2RobotPC¬╦▒”│╠╚›╝■' I renamed this 'alpha' otherwise it wouldn't start up!

2. You may need to install the ADB drivers. They seemed to be installed on my Windows 10 machine already.

3. Go to \Alpha2PC programming\Alpha\Release\fastbootfile (Don't forget I renamed the Alpha folder in step 1)

4. You will then need to start a command prompt. The easiest way is on windows 10 click on the 'FILE' tab then open command prompt. Simply type ADB logcat  and it should start showing lots of lines.. :-) If it doesnt then either Alpha isn't connected or you don't have the ADB Driver installed.

Have Fun!
